Another magical beach vacation in the books. We spent a wonderful week at Lake Michigan in the same house we’ve rented for the past three years. It’s a perfect little home right on the beach (hello, views!) and spent every day by the water and lounging around. It turns out this year I have two water babies. Both of the older girls loved the water and were in it almost all day every day. I love this about them. I was always a water baby and grew up visiting Lake Michigan, so it makes my heart happy to see my girls loving it too. Isla, however, is not a fan of the beach yet. I’m hoping that changes as she grows up. Or she’s going to have a loooong week at the beach every summer.
Here’s a quick round-up of some of our favorite things to do on vacay:
- Coffee as a family in the mornings. Each morning we wake up and hang out together in the living room, at the dining table, on the deck (my favorite) and drink our coffee and laugh at the cute things the kids did the day/night before.
- Campfires on the beach. The best!
- Taco night- we take turns cooking dinner each night and my favorite is always the night my sister and her boyfriend fix tacos. He also makes the most amazing guac.
- Cocktails on the beach.
- Dance parties with the girls.
- The girls’ “sleepovers” in the grandparent’s or aunt’s room.
- Taking pictures, of course. Here are a few of my favorites…
