My love for fall inspires me to do all the fun fall things. Last week, on a day home with my girls, we were planning our day and looking over our fall bucket list and we stopped on “Make a yummy fall treat”. I also realized I forgot to add “fall craft” to the list. The fall treat was easy- it’s my go-to cookie that everyone loves and it’s probably the simplest recipe that exists. We took to Pinterest to find the perfect craft and although we couldn’t find just what we were looking for there, what we found inspired the cutest little sign below. Read on for the how-to’s…

Pumpkin Chocolate Chip cookies

I get so many requests and questions about these cookies. They are the kind that people text you the day after asking for the recipe. And get this…they are the EASIEST cookies to make. ever. seriously. You need:

  • 1 can pure pumpkin
  • 1 box spice cake mix
  • 1-2 cups chocolate chips (more or less depending on your personal preference)

Pre-heat oven to 350º. Lightly spray a cookie sheet with PAM to prevent the cookies from sticking. I begin my mixing the pumpkin with the spice cake mix until it’s creamy smooth. Then I stir in chocolate chips with a spoon. Spoon the batter onto a cookie sheet (one spoonful = one cookie). I can fit about 3 rows of 4 on my cookie sheet. They don’t spread out much at all though so you could probably fit more in closer together if you choose. Bake for approximately 12 minutes. Let cool.

These are the best!

Our Pumpkin Patch craft

I recommend a helper for this one. Shout out to my husband for always being willing to go along with my crafting endeavors to (mostly) minimize the mess. This one could potentially get crazy depending on how well your participants respond. We moved pretty fast and my girls liked the feeling of paint on their feet so this one went pretty smooth for us. For this craft we used:

  • 9x12in canvas panels
  • craft paint (orange, brown & green)
  • paint brush
  • sharpie

We started with the baby. I painted one foot at a time and we pressed it again the canvas. Notice that the right foot is thin and curved. This was the first foot and I originally kind of wanted a rounded look for the pumpkin. It would’ve been cute, but I thought the whole foot would be cuter, so from then on we used the whole foot. We were close to the sink and rinsed each foot right after we made the print on the canvas. Our middle girl went next, then the oldest. It only took about 30 minutes to dry, then I went back in with brown to paint stems, and green for the leaves. The next day, I added the text with sharpie. I chose “Our Pumpkin Patch” and added names and ages of the girls beside their feet. I also thought: “Our Little Pumpkins”, “Little Pumpkins”, “Three Little Pumpkins”, and “Pumpkin Prints” would have been cute.

Do you agree with me that fall is the best of all? What are your favorite fall recipes and crafts? I need new fall treats and activities to add to our list. If you make these cookies or try this craft, share with me. I can’t wait to hear what you think and see your little pumpkin patches! Happy Fall!
