small shop favorites
I’m passionate about supporting small/handmade shop owners. I used to have my own little etsy shop and I know the hard work that goes into maintaining a business. The unique nature of handmade items appeals to me because it’s not something you can just get at any store. Usually, small shop owners create a brand that stands out and is different from what you see in big box or department stores (although don’t get me wrong, Old Navy & Target have my heart as well). I discovered the world of small shops on Instagram a few months after I had Hadley. Now, a year and a half later, our interest has turned into a bit of an obsession. We love our IG shops.
In fact, we love them so much that there is no way I could cover them all in one post. So for today, I’m featuring four of our favorite hair accessory shops. These include headbands, topknots, bows, and clips. Three of these shops we have worked with (or are still working with) as brand reps, but one brand is just a shop we’ve discovered and love! Maybe you’ll find something you love too…
Hello Cedar Co
Shop owner Jordan has created a beautiful brand of topknots. I love that she mainly offers one type of product, but with a huge variety of prints. Her topknots come in solids, stripes, florals, tie-dye, and basically anything you can dream up. We also have a couple bow designs which are different than the usual knotted band that she’s mainly known for. We even have some matching sets for the girls that I absolutely adore. Maizie Baby
Ashley is the owner of Maizie Baby and her gorgeous bows fit our style perfectly. Most of her designs are made with felt or cotton ribbon and have just a touch of sparkle or pom trim. She always has a lot of neutrals in her collections which is perfect for us. They are pretty, understated pieces…just what we like! Find the shop on IG at @maizie_baby and on etsy.
Elle Belle Baby
Another fun aspect of the small shop world is the personalized interactions. I’ve met some amazing people through shopping small and one of them is Brandi, owner of Elle Belle Baby. She has a way of making customers feel like family and I’m so happy to know her. And yes…her bows are pretty cute too. I love her sailor bows for Hadley, and the smaller Evy bows for Everly. The Petite Harper
I don’t know this shop owner personally, but I know we love her work. And her collections usually go fast! Whether felt, fabric, or glitter, her trademark is the leather tie in the center. Isn’t it gorgeous?! I usually order clip versions for Hadley and the nylon bands for Everly. The shop is @thepetiteharper on IG and you can shop here during releases.
It’s amazing how much your supply of hair accessories grows when you have two girls. We keep adding to our collection but you can never have too many bows, right? I’m in the pre-process of creating a display for the girls’ room to help keep all of these pretties organized. I’ll share it on the blog when I finally make it (the pieces may or may not have been sitting in my garage for the past month).
