What you *really* need for Baby 3

in baby, family  •  March 14, 2019

You would think after two babies, I would have had a good idea of what I needed for baby 3. But the excitement was real- and so was my pinterest addiction- and I bought all the things. I let every article, every influencer, and every ad talk me into more baby gear.

I quickly realized that with a pre-schooler, a toddler, and a newborn- I needed simplicity in every aspect of my life possible. That included the items we were using for baby 3. This post was inspired by my recently trimmed down list of my favorite, most-used baby gear, keeping in mind the chaos of three children and a minimalist approach. Here’s what I came up with:

*Note: I’m not including obvious/basic need items. Of course a baby needs food, clothing, a place to sleep, a car seat, diapers and wipes. Please- do all of these things first. The list below begins after basic needs are met.

**All of the items below can be easily found in my amazon influencer storefront.

A really good diaper bag

Gone are the days where you could throw a few diapers, a pack of wipes, and an extra pair of pants into your purse. These days, I’m toting around diapers, wipes, and extra outfits for the baby, pull-ups and extra clothes for my toddler, a changing pad, books and school papers for my preschooler, snacks, drinks, blankets, jackets, toys, a hairbrush, lots of socks (for some reason?), and the list goes on and on. I need alot of space- and I need it organized. I listed two of my favorite bags; both backpack styles, but one is more casual and the other is a little fancy.

A baby carrier

This has been a Godsend. I used this carrier a little with my second, but my third loves to be close to me and carted around, so when I’m busy working around the house, she fits right in and lets me work peacefully. I prefer this style but I also have a Moby wrap that I like too. Right now, the Tula is working the best for us.

Blankets

I added blankets because they’ve become my go-to for just about everything. Cold in the car? Blanket. Spit up? Blanket. Nursing cover? Blanket. Need a makeshift bib? Blanket. I keep atleast three extra blankets in the diaper bag at all times. I’ve added this set to my Amazon storefront, however, June and January has my favorite blankets.

Double stroller

You might already have one of these if you’ve got atleast 2 kids. I’ve come to appreciate it even more with a third though. Even if 2 kids insist on walking, there’s still plenty of room for all the stuff that comes with you wherever you go with 3 kids.

A great bouncy seat (or bumbo, or any seat)

I’ve learned to appreciate the benefit of my two older children entertaining the baby. She loves to watch them play. And as I much as I love to hold and snuggle her, a mom’s gotta do what a mom’s gotta do (housework) so I need to put her down from time to time. All three of my kids loved the seat above, but choose what works best for your child in order to maximize their fun & comfort, while keeping them happy so you can get some stuff done.

Fun toys

Fun toys are important especially for outings. Now that there’s three to look after, having something(s) to keep the baby occupied and happy is huge.

And then of course, a camera to capture all the adorable moments between baby and siblings.
