It’s finally April which means (hopefully) warmer weather, spring flowers, and Easter! I have the best memories of Easter fun with my family growing up. We’d hunt for eggs and search for our Easter baskets (my mom always hid our baskets somewhere in the house). I have a lot of special childhood memories of Easter celebrations. Palm Sunday at church, for one. This was such a somber service and at the end, the entire congregation would line up and parade out from the side door, onto the sidewalk and around the building to the front door with our palms. We’d leave with hopeful hearts for the next Sunday’s service.
Another fun Easter memory was this tradition at my grandma’s house of “fishing” for our Easter baskets. My grandparents had a big window over the kitchen sink that looked into their family room. The kids would cast a fake fishing pole from the family room into the kitchen where the adults would attach the Easter goodies and we’d reel them in. It was so fun and I didn’t realize how cool and unique this tradition was until I grew older and figured out not everyone fishes for their Easter basket.
On my other side of the family, we began an Easter tradition of flying kites. I love all the different ways to celebrate this holiday.
Something else I love- putting Easter baskets together for my girls. This year, I ordered several things from Amazon because of the convenience (fast & free shipping). You can see some of my favorites and some other ideas here. I’m proud of myself for finishing up their baskets so early this year, but now I have to figure out how they won’t snoop and find it.
Stay tuned for a post about the girls’ baskets this year. They are almost finished. Isla will be 7 months so hers is more of a baby basket. The older two girls have almost the exact same things.
