it’s potty time

It’s time. I’m ready. (I think) Hadley’s ready. And it just seems like the right time. We’re potty training!

Hadley’s used the potty before off and on but it’s never been truly consistent beyond a day or two. We’ve been really lackadaisical about the whole thing, just letting her decide. If she told us she had to potty, great! We’d head to the bathroom. Sometimes she even went in on her own and started going. Yay!  What’s different now is that we are going to be intentional about putting her on the potty (every hour) and encouraging her to use the potty each time.

For fun, I created a poster/chart to help us keep track of the potty successes and give Hadley little rewards. I got this idea from pinterest and it looks like it originated here. Instead of using the printable (free on the site, by the way) I created my own because for some reason I feel like I have to DIY everything. I created it around midnight last night so with that considered, I think it turned out pretty good. Hadley will earn a sticker each time she actually does her business in the potty. As she fills up the row, she’ll get a smaller prize (I’m thinking a food item or small gift) and when the entire chart is completed, she’ll get a big prize (Toy’s R Us shopping day??). I’ll figure out the prizes as I go. And I’ll update here I’m sure as we make progress. For now, my fingers are crossed that this little girl makes a smooth transition. If you have tips, please share! I’d love to hear what worked (or didn’t work) for you & your kiddos. Now…let’s potty!
