our favorites for baby

in baby  •  February 22, 2017

Now that Baby #2 has been here for almost four months (can’t believe she’s almost four months!), we have settled into a routine and have discovered some favorite items that we couldn’t live without (well, we could, but we wouldn’t want to!). Hadley had her favorites and Everly has some of her own, but this list will consist of some items that we loved with both girls.   These are the things I would say to my best friends if they asked me what baby items I’d recommend. None of these items are rare or even really new, so if you have kids already, you probably already know about these things. But maybe there will be something you haven’t tried, or maybe you are pregnant or a new mom and looking for some must-have products that you need for your new cutie. If so, read on to find out our favorites. I’m always looking for recommendations too so if you have some favorites of your own, please share!

one.  bouncy seat

This item was a hand-me-down from a friend who was no longer using it (but loved it so much she knew we needed to have it). Hadley loved this seat so much. There were times when she’d be crying and nothing except this seat would comfort her! Everly is proving to be the same way. The seat has an on/off switch for vibrating (a feature we rarely used)  and can either play music or play nature sounds. We usually just bounce the seat with a foot on the metal base and it has put both girls right to sleep. We never had the top attachment but obviously that would come with the seat if you bought it new.

two. a + d

We have been so very fortunate that our girls have rarely had bad diaper rashes. Everly hasn’t had one yet in her four months of life, and Hadley didn’t experience  her first until well after her first birthday. She does get them from time to time when she’s sick or teething. I credit their healthy booties to one of the most common baby items available: A&D ointment. You can get it at any drugstore. We use it regularly, every day.

three. boppy pillow

We didn’t really use the boppy with Hadley. I had two of them and thought they’d be helpful for nursing, but I just never used them. I kept them around though and Everly loves hanging out in them! I think it might be because I’m on the floor playing with Hadley a lot, so the boppy lets her sit up with us and join in on the fun. She will outgrow it soon, but until then we use it often. It’s great for traveling too!

four. milk snob cover

Milk Snob has a beautiful selection of prints ranging from basic neutrals and solids to trendy floral designs. The cloth doubles as a nursing cover and a car seat cover. I get so many compliments on the carseat cover and love how cute it looks on. The fabric is lightweight enough that you don’t get hot when nursing and it’s still usable in summer months over the carseat. The fit allows you to peak in on your baby. This is one of my favorite new items!

five. receiving blankets

This one seems like a given but we got so many blankets with both babies that when it came to receiving blankets, I didn’t really see the point. Now I love them! I use them as burp cloths….and we need a lot of those. Traditional burp cloths are great but they are usually fairly small. Receiving blankets are the perfect size to throw over your shoulder or cover your shirt (or the baby’s) in case of a spit-up disaster, which we know all too well. My diaper bag is consistently packed with at least 2 receiving blankets and Everly always travels with one in her carseat. Target and Amazon both have fun prints and are fairly inexpensive.

six. milk barn onesies

First, organic and super soft. Second, the prints! The most adorable prints live here. We are just growing out of this purple hedgehog onesie. We are waiting on new ones to arrive. The collection is available here but to purchase, you can visit spearmintlove.com or Amazon.

Last but not least, my ultimate baby favorites. Aren’t they cute?
