why fridays are my favorite

Last August, I started my internship for my 3rd (and final!) year in graduate school. I’m becoming a school counselor so every Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, I work at an elementary school under the supervision of the counselor there. I love it. Love it. And it’s making me so excited to graduate, become licensed, and get my own school of students to counsel! The only thing I don’t love is that I’m away from the girls of course. Everly doesn’t know any differently since she was born after my internship started, but Hadley was used to having me all day, every day. She has transitioned nicely to the new arrangement of a babysitter 2x a week and Grandma (aka “momaw”) watches them one day. They love spending time with her and on the babysitter days, I like that Hadley is getting some interaction with other kids (we’re working on sharing).

So Fridays have become our “us” days. Usually its just me and the girls and we can go on little adventures together, or just stay home and cuddle the day away. Yesterday we went to story time at the library and then to Momaw and Pa’s house to pick up sticks and play outside. Some days we go to SkyZone so Hadley can work off some of that toddler energy. Of course, we (mostly me) love to shop so Target runs are typical for a Friday too. The weekends are awesome but they are usually packed full of people and activities, so it’s nice to have one day for just being together.

This coming Fall I will (hopefully) be starting my new career as a school counselor. It will be bittersweet because I’ll miss our Fridays together. Other days will become our “Fridays” and we’ll still make time for all the fun stuff, and most definitely all the cuddling. But for now when I’m given this day every week, I’m going to make the most of every moment. Because they are my favorite.

*I realized when I was adding pictures to this post that I hadn’t taken any of Everly that Friday, which makes me sad. Granted, she does less moving around and entertaining than Hadley, but she still deserves just as many photos. Stay tuned for Everly-photo overload…
