connecticut trip

in family, vacation  •  July 6, 2017

Last week, Chris and I packed up the girls at 9 pm on a Sunday night and traveled about 15 hours (including 2 short stops) to see family in Connecticut. It was a surprisingly easy road trip and of course, our time with family was fabulous. I wish I could give some advice on traveling with a 2 year old and a 7 month old but for some magical reason our girls were overnight angels and slept almost the entire way. When Hadley wasn’t sleeping, she was watching a movie. So that’s my only tip- have a movie ready.

Hadley waking up confused in the car at 5 am

We got to our destination around noon on Monday and immediately headed downtown Madison to check out the town. It’s gorgeous! We window shopped, got ice cream, and Hadley played at the park. Then that night we ate at a restaurant that our brother-in-law owns. So good. The next day (Tuesday) we went to Mystic, CT and walked around the shops, had an amazing lunch, and watched the drawbridge rise so the boats could pass through. That night, we went to my brother-in-law’s art show and had ice cream…again.

Wednesday was our last day (told you it was a super quick trip) and we spent most of the day at the beach. Madison lies along the Long Island Sound. The water was peaceful and the views were gorgeous. Plus it had a really nice park so it won over Hadley right away. That evening our in-laws had a cookout before we packed up and headed home around 9 pm. Again, the girls did amazing on the drive, sleeping pretty much the entire time (angel babies or pure luck?). It was a great time and we made lots of fun memories. I can’t wait to take the girls back as they grow older. I’m already missing the yummy food and dreamy beach views. ‘Til next time….
